Lincoln comes back with a crossover car brings new innovations, the 2010 Lincoln MKT EcoBoost AWD, having a good personality and free to move. MKT controversial design based on the D4 Ford full-size CUV platform.

Lincoln designers did well making the MKT’s outward appearance live up to its more-expensive-than-Flex price tag. Our tester’s White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat paint was as flawless as a pearl, while the lack of cladding, sparing use of chrome and simple surfaces reminded us of contemporary furniture design.

2009 Lincoln C Concept

 2009 Lincoln C Concept

Lincoln broke new ground with the Lincoln C concept, the new big ideas for small luxury cars, bringing the presence and the elegance of Lincoln’s smaller, more efficient C-car sized.

Unique concept of size, lightweight construction and use of sustainable materials to make Lincoln C stand out – along with fuel.

Featuring a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and Ford’s all-new dry, PowerShift dual-clutch six-speed transmission, Lincoln C Concept achieve 43 mpg on the highway, while offering up to 180 horsepower and an impressive 180 ft-lbs. torque. PowerShift and driving dynamics that make Lincoln’s great fun for Concept C driver.

Plus, the sophisticated machine human interface (HMI) and forward-thinking in the car connectivity technology brings a new dimension to social networking, an important aspect of modern customers’ active lifestyles.

Connectivity is as much a luxury for today’s young car buyers as is traditional elegance of wood, leather and a comfortable journey on the road.
 2009 Lincoln C Concept
Sporty, Elegant Exterior Design

Their vision: a smaller, more fuel-efficient car that can easily maneuver in the dense and compact urban parking lot, but still gives the driver and passengers with luxury and comfort level usually reserved for larger sedans.
 2009 Lincoln C Concept
One of the characteristic silhouette of Lincoln C is unique. Visual mass of the car is very low to the road. Low-slung shoulder line with the wheel-at-each-corner stance supporting a dynamic, less formal cabin. The goal is to “go kart” visual stability combined with elegant lines and surfaces.

Modern appearance reflects the perpetual Lincoln C, icon elements of Lincoln’s DNA: a thin surface bounded by the defined folds; cantilevered roof extending from the C-pillars are strong; a confident double-wing chrome grille; full width tail lights and rocker brightwork.

Front end of this concept is clearly Lincoln. Summarizes the lattice LED light signatures which – like the rear lights – which are made with prismatic optical elements that create visual depth and sophistication. A statue on the top line of the front hood – which comes from Lincoln’s badge form – adding the finishing touches on the car screen.

Low shoulder lines combine with strong, high waist to create a sense of security and privacy within and outside the vehicle.

Cantrail aluminum add elegance to the concept by extending the beltline to the rear view mirror and instead divide high C-pillars. Aluminum is also visible in the door hole.

Lincoln C is absent from the B-pillar or the center post. Center-opening doors – classic Lincoln rekindles memories of the nature of the 1961 Continental – allow access to the first attempt and second-row bench seat and provides a vehicle limousine-like quality.

Sleek side of the house mirrors the advanced rear view camera and blind spot detection technology. Slit-like LED turn signal indicators are integrated into the mirror, enabling lean, efficient light.

LED taillamps a full-width rear Lincoln C, which shows a turn signal indicator that fades into the center of the car stretches from side to side.

All-glass roof provides a modern, futuristic look. The opening of a vast lit cabin and enhance a sense of spaciousness in the car.

Designers reinterpreted a presentation of Lincoln’s badge around the outside of the Lincoln C in a subtle way, giving the contemporary “race track” theme.

The outside of the Lincoln C is bathed in light, exterior clear coat metallic yellow instructions.

2011 Lincoln Luxury Sports Sedan MKZ Hybrid

NEW YORK, March 31, 2010 – Lincoln today introduces its first hybrid – the new 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid – a premium midsize car poised to be the most fuel-efficient luxury sports sedan in America.
2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
“Today’s luxury customers do not want to make sacrifices. Lincoln has found a way to deliver a luxury sports sedan with the comforts they expect, the technology they want and the environmental responsibility society demands,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford Group Vice President, Global Product Development.
Ford’s latest hybrid sports sedan, the 2011 Lincoln MKZ has finally lifted off its covers at the New York Auto Show. Using its second generation of hybrid technology, the company aims to ‘further broaden its aggressive electrification plan.’ From the Department at Ford Motor Company comes the new hybrid version of the Lincoln MKZ. The MKZ hybrid is fitted with the same gasoline-electric system found in the hybrid versions of its corporate twins, the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.
The 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid powertrain combines a 156-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and 106-hp electric motor for a total system output of 191 hp; it’s rated for 41 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway in the Fusion and Milan variants. Ford cited its hybrid as “the most fuel-efficient luxury sports sedan in America” as it returns 41  miles per gallon of average fuel consumption.
In pure electric mode, the MKZ Hybrid can reach 47 mph. While we have yet to match those numbers (the Milan hybrid we tested returned 32 mpg combined), Ford says it expects similar EPA ratings for this MKZ. The company goes on to name the car’s Public Enemy No. 1, the Lexus HS250h, and says that the MKZ will offer the best fuel economy of any luxury sports sedan.
Lincoln's first-ever hybrid model is expected to deliver at least 41mpg (5.7 lt/100km) in the city and reach speeds of up to 47 mph (75 km/h) in pure electric mode.
Lincoln’s take on the Ford hybrid theme, of course, will be much better equipped than either of its less-expensive brethren. It will include swiveling HID headlamps, cushy heated and cooled leather seats, and, of course, a slightly snazzier version of the nifty, configurable EcoGuide instrument cluster. In the Milan and Fusion hybrids, a screen-based botanical garden grows leaves and vines as a reward for fuel-efficient driving; the Lincoln adds pretty flowers!
The loads of standard features in the hybrid include, SmartGauge with EcoGuide, Lincoln SYNC, 10-Way Power Passenger Seat, Genuine Wood Trim, Reverse Sensing System, Keyless Entry Keypad, Easy Fuel Capless Fuel-Filler, Personal Safety System, MyKey, Integrated Spotter Mirrors, Acoustic Laminated Windshield and standard Bridge of Weir leather seats.
Other standard goodies include Sync voice-activated controls; sustainable wood trim for the dash, doors, and steering wheel; and reverse and cross-traffic sensors. Pricing has not yet been announced, but we speculate it will cost around $38,000 to start. Sales will begin later this year.
