Car parts art

Conrad Leach at Gauntlett

Loyal Sideburn subscriber and world renowned artist, Conrad Leach indulges in some clever marketing by having his Cro Customs built Evo Sportster-powered board track/Brooklands-inspired street bike in the window of a Pimlico art gallery, Gauntlett, that is flogging his wares. G

Beezer Birds

Hideous things have been created in the name of street art, but I do like these birds created by Bristol sculptor Jason Lane in St Pauls; perched on Grosvenor Road where the 1980 riots kicked off. They each have a BSA petrol tank body; a Bantam, an M21, and a C15 (?) BP

Happy Christmas everyone

Thanks to Tim Beaumont Designs for the artwork.

Sideburn 9 Lives T-shirt

New Sideburn T-shirt has just arrived. To quote our mate Fly 'It's a tiger on a motorbike, what's not to like?'

Designed by cult British illustrator Stevie Gee exclusively for Sideburn. It has the 9 Lives tiger four-colour screenprint on the front with the Stevie Gee logo. The back print reads Sideburn in hand-drawn font by the artist too. And it's printed in England on a quality Gildan 100% pre-shrunk Ultra Cotton shirt.
Size small to XL.
Colours Sport Grey and Air Force Blue.
Like all Sideburn shirts, we limit to one run. When they're gone that's it.

The inspiration? Stevie says
"I finished your 4 colour tee design today. Hope y'all like it.
After our ongoing conversations about danger, risk and death, I decided to draw a big cat on a bike as they are super lucky, having 9 lives and all."
Best Stevie Gee

Buy it in the Sideburn Webshop. We'll be posting orders between Christmas and New Year.

UPDATE: Oh yeah, every 9 Lives order gets 2 Sideburn Soul vinyl screen-printed stickers

Antonio Merinero: Pinball

We should've blogged this a few days ago. Sorry. The launch has gone but the exhibition continues. Beautiful stuff, Antonio! G

Pinball, Flipper ... is the game of neighbourhood bars, it’s easy to recall the sound – that dry "Tack"- of the metal ball bouncing of the bumpers. Visually catching, it’s “a game of skill” . Good games ending in “Replay” ... and bad games in either "Tilt" or “Game-over”. We didn´t speak English but so much we understood.

The shiny ball hitting kickers and slingshots and the ringing of bells, were the arcade’s soundtrack.
Toño Merinero brings those days of mechanical entertainment back, leaving the sound to our imagination, and putting our "machine" in the place of dreams. These originaland unique pieces, like all of Toño’s collages, provide a particular vision of everydaylife, making it art.

PINBALL
Antonio Merinero exhibits, in Makinostra, his collection of pinball machines for motorcyclists

Graphic artist, biker and unrepentant traveller Antonio Merinero shows his latest creation in Makinostra, Madrid. A collection of
mute pinballs designed on the lay out of the playfield of classic pinball machines reflect his passion for the Harley universe in an evocative and playful metaphor of "Biker’s Replay"

The, hand-drawn, personal reinterpretation of various graphical images and icons of “pop” inspiration make sense in a type of three-dimensional collage in which each piece each builds upon the aesthetics and visual context of different concepts of motorcycling: Cafe Racer, Chopper, Dirt Track, Bobber and Touring.
The piece by piece assembly makes each edition original and unique. Which is something magical in times when technology allow us to make unlimited, faithful copies of practically anything.
December 16 -20:00 hours.. until 10 January
